Ara Gallant the "flying" hair technique
Ara Gallant burst onto the fashion scene in the 1960’s as the first session hairstylist working with such greats as Richard Avedon and Irving Penn. Ara was heavily influenced by art and culture and considered himself an artist as opposed to just a hairstylist. Most known for his famous “flying hair” technique in which he would use a piece of cardboard or a fan to send small bursts of air into the hair, creating movement and life. A technique we still use today – thank you Ara.
