MANE MUSE: Alix Brown

When you think of New York, a few things come to mind: Saturday Night Live, Central Park, Rockefeller Centre and of course, Radio City Music Hall. Music is such a big part of the Big Apple, and with exports like Jay-Z to the Beastie Boys, NYC is the hub for music aficionados. In part two of our Texture muse feature, we’ll introduce you to cool girl Alix Brown. Photographed by Kristin Gallegos and hair styled by our friend Wesley O’Meara, be inspired by this effortlessly chic music ingenue.

Alix Brown

Where are you from, what brought you to New York?
I was born in Atlanta, raised in Memphis, and drawn to NY for it’s artistic freedom.

How long have you lived in New York?
Almost 10 years.

What neighbourhood?

Describe your style in 3 words.
Crazy. Sexy. Cool.

Who is your ultimate style icon?
Iggy Pop.

How would you describe your hair texture/style?

How do you wear your hair most often? Any tricks?
Smooth and wavy.

Does your hair ever not cooperate?
Yes, if I let it dry naturally with no product.

What is your typical morning routine?
Put on music, drink tea, take a shower, dance around.

How does the city inspire you?
It’s constantly changing and busy, just like me.

Favourite thing to eat/see/do in New York?
I love eating at Omen and going to the Cloisters to see nature.

Is there anywhere else in the world you would want to live?
