Dial It Back

Some people tend to over wash their hair, causing it to become dry and frizzy. In some cases, it can actually cause your hair to over produce oil. The more we wash, the more we strip our hair of its natural oils, and without them, your hair loses its shine and becomes frizzy, matted and flat. What’s more, for gals with coloured hair, reducing washed will keep your locks looking brighter for longer.

Depending on your hair type, the most you should be shampooing is once every two days, push it to every three or four days for best results. Ingredients are key – look for a shampoo that doesn’t contain sodium chloride or salt, which can be drying and irritating to the scalp. People with fine hair tend to show oil more quickly than thicker hair types. Investing in a good dry shampoo can take your hair that extra day. It will also help your mane appear fuller.

We recommend a lightweight, body building shampoo such as Thikk Wash volumizing shampoo. Clinically-proven pea sprout extract coupled with ginseng and ginger will help create and maintain an optimal environment for healthy hair growth and fuller looking hair.

For our thicker-hair ladies, try to go even longer between washes. Aim for every three to four days. A dry shampoo can do wonders for you as well, refreshing locks, and preventing your hair from going flat in between hair washes. Try our Balance apple cider vinegar sulfate-free shampoo for a gentle, moisturizing cleanse. With over 98% naturally-derived ingredients, such as organic apple cider vinegar and argan oil, Balance will close the hair cuticle, preventing colour fading, smoothing and hydrating strands.

Our curly girls love Cleansing Cream foam-free hair wash. The lather-free cleanser holds moisture in, preventing frizz and flyaways, while hydrating and repairing waves, curls and coils. Plus, the gentle formula is perfect for colour-treated locks. Hair stays vibrant and fresh for longer!

When sleeping, keep your hair tied back, in a braid or bun, and use a cloth scrunchie or pins, so that you’re not left with an elastic bump. When you take your hair down the next morning, you’ll have soft, natural texture and body. Sleeping with your hair loose can cause excess static, frizz and unwanted bumps from your pillow.

Follow these simple steps and banish bad hair days forever! An easy rule of thumb for the days between washes – Dry Shampoo. Love. Repeat.
