AG Hair, a Canadian hair care company experiencing exponential growth in the USA and internationally, has an exciting opportunity for a Sales Representative; this is an 8 month maternity leave replacement contract based in Vancouver.

 Contract Period: February 2017 – September 2017

One Girl Can Society (OGC), a Vancouver based not-for-profit organization providing educational opportunities to in girls sub-Saharan Africa, has an exciting opportunity for a 13 month maternity leave contract as Fund Development Coordinator.

 

Background

One Girl Can (www.onegirlcan.com) is a registered charity based in Vancouver Canada, and provides educational opportunities to impoverished girls living in Kenya and Uganda.

WE BUILD and rehabilitate existing girls’ schools to create safe and enriching learning environments.

WE EDUCATE by providing scholarships for students with the greatest need and potential at secondary school and university levels.

WE MENTOR every student through workshops that teach goal setting, confidence building, strategic thinking and career planning.

We believe in the ability of women to become leaders. Educating girls is one of the fastest and most effective ways of promoting global economic development, as well as the key to ultimately ending poverty and injustice for women.

The opportunity for you

We are searching for an experienced and committed Fund Development Coordinator for a 13 month maternity leave contract, who will be based in Vancouver and responsible for coordinating and executing the day-to-day administrative activities of One Girl Can, and playing an active role in donor relations as well as market research and fund development activities.

Reporting directly to the CEO, the Fund Development Coordinator’s major responsibilities will be:

  • Ensuring accurate and timely management of all aspects of the student database.
  • Efficiently organizing and maintaining all files, invoices, receipts and requests pertaining to the students and schools
  • Working with the Program Manager in Kenya via email to facilitate our programs
  • Interacting with the scholarship students in Africa via email to ensure fees are paid and all required documentation and reporting is submitted
  • Coordinating the Grad to Grad Program by contacting local elementary and high schools to arrange meetings for the CEO with key personnel; facilitating the preparation of presentation materials and coordinating presentation dates
  • Developing and executing grant LOI’s and proposals, including soliciting information from schools in Africa
  • Conducting market research for potential corporate and business sponsors, assessing suitability, generating leads and preparing follow up reports for the CEO
  • Maintaining all aspects of donor relations
  • Assisting the CEO in writing, formatting and executing individual annual donor updates
  • Coordinating social media, eblast and article content and sourcing appropriate photographs
  • Coordinating and facilitating the annual fundraising event

What you offer

  • University Degree
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant work experience in the non-profit sector with a focus on donor relations
  • Strong and polished interpersonal skills; superior written skills are essential
  • A self-starter with excellent organizational and problem-solving skills
  • Advanced computer skills; knowledge of Microsoft Office and Windows
  • A passion for the advancement and empowerment of women, particularly in underdeveloped countries such as Africa.
